Espansione Optimal Power Energy™ IPL

Espansione OPE IPL is an advanced light-based treatment that targets inflammatory and vascular factors associated with chronic dry eye and ocular surface disease. It may be recommended when diagnostic findings show that meibomian gland dysfunction, eyelid inflammation, abnormal
blood vessels, or recurring redness is contributing to a patient’s symptoms.

During treatment, carefully controlled pulses of light are applied to targeted areas around the eyes. The goal is to reduce inflammatory influences, support healthier meibomian gland function, and improve tear film stability. IPL is recommended according to the patient’s examination and test results rather than as a one-size-fits-all treatment for dryness.

Light Modulation Low-Level Light Therapy

Light Modulation Low-Level Light Therapy, also known as LLLT, uses gentle low-level light to support eyelid health and meibomian gland function. These glands produce the oil layer of the tear film, which helps prevent tears from evaporating too quickly. When objective testing shows poor oil flow or reduced gland function, LLLT may be included in a personalized care plan. The treatment is designed to warm and stimulate the glands, support more stable tears, and address a contributing cause of dryness, irritation, and fluctuating vision.

Amniotic Membrane Therapy

Amniotic Membrane Therapy, or AMT, provides biologic support for healing of the ocular surface. It may be recommended when the examination reveals persistent inflammation, significant corneal or conjunctival irritation, surface damage, or tissue that has not responded adequately to basic care.

AMT acts as a protective therapeutic covering over the eye’s surface. It creates an environment that supports tissue recovery, comfort, and greater ocular surface stability. Because this treatment is intended for specific clinical findings, our doctors determine whether AMT is appropriate after
evaluating the location, severity, and underlying cause of the surface condition

When Advanced Treatments May Be Recommended

Patient’s history and use examination findings and objective testing to assess tear film stability, gland function, inflammation, and ocular surface integrity.

Advanced treatment may be considered when findings indicate:

• ​​​​​​​Chronic dry eye symptoms that have not improved with basic care

• Meibomian gland dysfunction, poor oil flow, or rapid tear evaporation

• Ongoing eyelid or ocular surface inflammation

• Recurring redness, burning, stinging, or irritation

• Fluctuating vision related to tear film instability

• Corneal or conjunctival damage that may benefit from AMT
